Build forms with AI for free

Building quizzes with AI: top 5 AI quiz makers

Quizzes are great for education, engagement, and lead generation, but they've always been a hassle to build. AI has made content creation a lot easier, but until recently, you still had to ask ChatGPT to create questions, then copy-paste everything into a form tool yourself.

But that's changing. A new wave of AI quiz generators can now handle everything, from generating questions to assigning correct answers and scoring, and even design customization.

These tools are still relatively new, so the choice is limited, but we found five that actually deliver. Most of them generate and build the quiz in one go. The one exception is Typeform, which for now focuses mainly on content creation, but that’s likely to evolve soon.

1. Weavely – AI quizzes that build themselves

Weavely - a free AI quiz generator

Weavely is a free AI quiz builder that takes care of all the manual effort in creating quizzes. You don't need to write any questions manually or define scoring logic yourself. Simply describe the kind of quiz you want, or upload a document, like PDF or a chapter from a book, and Weavely’s AI does the rest.

In addition to supporting multiple languages, the quiz tool also allows for multiple questions types, such as generating quizzes with both single- and multiple-choice questions, dropdowns, image choices, and text fields for short answers.

Weavely's ai quiz generator automatically:

  • Generates relevant questions from PDFs or prompts
  • Writes the answer options and determines the correct answers
  • Builds the scoring and logic behind the scenes
  • Generates branded interactive quizzes (with your custom colors, fonts, and logos)

Once generated, the quiz is ready to use and mobile-friendly, with no additional setup required. You can either share your quiz via a public link, embed it or even  as a pop-up on your website.

This is built specifically for right-or-wrong style quizzes, so it's perfect when there's a clear correct answer, like in:

  • Employee onboarding or compliance testing
  • Cybersecurity training
  • Course-based assessments, exams
  • Internal knowledge checks
  • E-learning modules with certifications

2. Fillout - from text to quiz with AI

Generating an AI quiz with Fillout

Fillout’s AI Quiz Maker is simple and fast. You paste in a block of text (at least 350 characters long), and it generates a complete knowledge quiz with questions, answer options, difficulty level, and scoring logic.

It’s designed specifically for fact-based quizzes, so while Fillout’s platform overall supports lead generation and self-assessment formats, the AI tool focuses on educational or knowledge-check style quizzes. There’s currently no support for uploading PDFs or generating quizzes from files, just plain text.

After generation, you can jump into editing mode to:

  • Add or remove questions
  • Change the visual style manually
  • Add fields for email capture or other inputs
  • Share the quiz via public link or embed it

Use cases that fit well:

  • Quizzes based on lessons, notes or articles
  • Internal knowledge checks
  • Fast content-to-quiz conversions
  • Email-gated quizzes with scoring

It’s fast and efficient—ideal if you already have a well-written explanation or article and want to test comprehension without writing everything from scratch. Just keep in mind that the AI requires a reasonably detailed input to work from.

3. Typeform – the OG of beautiful quizzes

Building a quiz with Typeform

Typeform is known for its polished quiz experience, and it’s especially strong when it comes to lead scoring and self-assessment quizzes. While it also supports knowledge tests, its real strength is in helping businesses qualify leads through interactive forms.

You can use AI to generate quiz content based on a prompt. However, there’s currently no support for generating quizzes directly from uploaded documents like PDFs.

You’ll also need to configure lead scoring manually, as Typeform doesn’t auto-assign scores based on answers like some other tools do. But if you’re focused on lead segmentation or product recommendation flows, it gives you the flexibility to map each response to a different outcome or score.

Once your quiz is live, Typeform offers:

  • Strong branding and design customization
  • Logic jumps and conditional paths
  • Integrations with CRM tools and email platforms
  • Customizable result pages to reflect product matches

Best suited for:

  • Lead qualification flows
  • Product recommendation quizzes
  • Self-assessment tools for coaching or consulting
  • Branded customer onboarding quizzes

4. Interact – quizzes for lead generation

Interact - an AI powered quiz builder for lead generation

If your main goal is to generate leads through personalized quizzes, Interact is a strong choice. It’s built specifically for marketing teams who want to guide users toward a tailored outcome that aligns with their product or service.

Unlike basic scoring tools, Interact’s AI can associate each answer with a specific category or outcome. So instead of just totaling points, it maps responses to broader topics. For example, it can generate  quizzes like “What type of personality are you?” or “Which product is right for you?” The AI uses that data to steer users toward a final result or recommendation that makes sense based on their choices.

You don’t have to start from scratch, you can paste the URL of your website, and it’ll generate a lead gen quiz based on your content and audience. While it doesn't seem to support quizzes from file uploads, the URL-based generation is already a powerful feature for digital marketers.

Once created, quizzes can be customized visually and functionally, and are fully optimized for lead capture:

  • Customize result pages to reflect product matches
  • Use branching logic to control the quiz path
  • Embed quizzes on landing pages or share via a link

Great for:

  • Lead capture through personality-style quizzes
  • Product matching and onboarding
  • Assessments that help segment audiences
  • Coaching or consulting quizzes with tailored outcomes.

However unlike other quiz makers on this list, Interact doesn't offer a free plan. You are limited to a free 7-day trial, with no credit card required for this period. After the trial is over, you'll have to switch to a paid plan, which starts from $39/month.

5. Jotform – quick knowledge quizzes with AI scoring

Jotform's new feature: AI quiz generator

Jotform is a versatile form builder, and its AI quiz tool makes it easy to create right-or-wrong quizzes without doing the manual work yourself. Similar to Weavely, Jotform’s AI can generate quiz questions and scoring automatically based on either a written prompt or an uploaded PDF document.

Once you provide your input, it creates a working quiz with:

  • Single or multiple-choice questions
  • Correct answer logic baked in
  • Instant scoring setup

You can edit and refine the questions manually, but most of the structure is handled for you upfront.

The design of Jotform's quizzes is functional and clean, but definitely on the simpler side. You can customize colors, fonts, and layout, though that part isn’t AI-assisted and requires manual tweaking.

Best for:

  • Internal knowledge tests
  • Simple educational assessments and exams
  • Quick training quizzes with clear answers
  • Teams looking for a familiar, no-frills interface

It’s not the flashiest option, but it’s reliable, fast, and very easy to use. Especially if you’re already using Jotform for other tasks.

“Weavely made it really easy to build structured forms quickly. It’s intuitive, straightforward, and the end result looked great.”
